Robert selected a private, secluded space that allowed uninterrupted time together. He carefully thought through the timing, location, and presentation for the perfect way to pop the question. He wanted to ensure his proposal to Lindsey was unforgettable. And proposals should be sweet, romantic, unique, and memorable.

Scouting the location

As the photographer, I worked closely with Robert, scouting the location in advance to ensure the perfect setting. I provided him with expert advice on how to capture the best photos of his engagement, including the ideal lighting and angles. My goal was to create a visual narrative of their love story, from the proposal to the ‘I do’.

Stylish picnic

Robert had set up a stylish picnic with blankets and pillows in a friendly, grassy area. It was situated so that a graceful willow tree provided a beautiful backdrop for the photos. The food was ready, as well as a bottle of Champagne. A large bouquet of red roses adorned the location. And a line of rose petals led up to the picnic setting. Everything was set up ahead of time to make it seamless for the soon-to-be question. And a sign read “Lindsey, will you marry me?”

Arriving at the location early, I was determined not to miss the special moment. The October day was a picture-perfect backdrop, with a deep azure sky and a gentle breeze. When Robert and Lindsey arrived, I had less than a minute to capture the once-in-a-lifetime moment, but my dedication paid off in the stunning results.

After capturing the proposal and a few more images of emotional, unrepeatable moments, I headed straight home to dive into the editing. I wanted to ensure Robert and Lindsey had stunning professional photos that did justice to their love story. There is something incredibly special about photographing a couple’s journey unfold in front of my camera lens—from “will you” to “I do”.
